Kumasi Asante Kotoko advanced to the next stage of the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup without kicking a ball.
The Porcupine Warriors progressed due to the inability of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) to submit its second representative for the continent’s second-tier club competition.
FECAFOOT failed to meet the deadline for the submission of the side that would join New Star FC for the competition.
Reports said that a legal tussle caused the delay in the submission of representatives from the Central African nation.
Last Friday, a deadline given FECAFOOT elapsed three days ahead of the originally scheduled first leg of the preliminary round of qualifiers.
A statement from CAF read: Matches #37&38 are cancelled because the deadline for Fecafoot (Cameroon FA) to confirm the engagement of second representative for Total CAF Confederation Cup has elapsed. Asante Kotoko have therefore qualified to the 1/16th round.”
Kotoko would battle the winner of the Kariobangi Sharks-Solar7 two-legged qualifiers.
The first leg is expected to take place between December 14 and 16.
