Assortment of brand new medical equipment, valued at GH¢10,000, has been donated to the Kumasi High School (KUHIS) during a colourful ceremony on Wednesday.
The United Kingdom (UK)/Northern Ireland branch of the old students association of the school, known as ‘Mmerantee’, donated the items to furnish a 12-bed infirmary recently built at the school.
The donated items include kidney dish, wheel chair, surgeon scissors, steriliser, infrared digital thermometer and auto clare, among other expensive medical equipment, to boost healthcare of the students.
Ampabeng Marfo, a top member of ‘Mmerantee UK/Northern Ireland branch, stated that his group decided to present the equipment so that the school’s infirmary could properly attend to the medical needs of students.
He said the entire 150 members of the association made the financial contribution which was used to buy the medical equipment.
Mr Marfo stated that his group had in the past dug boreholes, presented mathematics and science materials and sponsored brilliant but needy students of the school, adding, “We are prepared to do more for our dear alma mater.”
He said his group has plans of constructing a 4,000 capacity assembly hall at the school soon, stressing that the ‘Mmerantee’ in UK/Northern Ireland hope that the present students of the school would learn from them and do same after school.
M.O. Yeboah, Headmaster of Kumasi High School, showered praises on all the ‘Mmerantee’ groups across the globe for their magnificent support for the school, urging them to sustain their splendid works.
