Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Kwadwo Odame Antwi, has called for all hands on deck to develop the country’s tourism industry.
According to him, partnership from various bodies towards the tourism sector is a good way to start.
He was speaking at the second edition of the Ghana Travel Tourism Awards held at the Holiday Inn Accra City Hotel on Friday, January 25, 2018.
The event, hosted by Jumia Travels, was to celebrate the success of the Ghanaian hospitality and travel industries and their contribution towards the promotion of tourism.
Mr Odame Antwi applauded efforts by Jumia Travels and stakeholders in the hospitality industry to promote tourism.
He emphasized the need for such efforts and the role of GTDC as the investment wing of the ministry in the tourism development, touching on the various projects started by the Ghana Tourism Development Company and need for close partnership with private investors.
“GTDC is embarking on projects like Centre of the World, our flagship project to construct an iconic monument at Tema, we have secured a land for the project with agencies like the Ghana Port and Harbours, the Tema Development Company and some key stakeholders with some of Ghana’s renowned architects to give a face-lift to the many lists of natures gift to us,” he said.
Mr Odame Antwi further stated the enormous benefits the marine drive-on completion will be to the economy of Ghana in job creation.
“The project is one government is committed to, to develop the 241 acres of land into a tourism enclave with hotels, parks, museum and event centres and it is our closer efforts in enhancing greater service delivery that will make Ghana a great destination for tourism,” he further added.
The GTDC CEO called on the public, investors, tourism promoters to call on his offices any day with whatever questions and suggestions to develop the country.
