Landlady Dies From Shock After Tenant’s Murder

A tragic double blow has struck the Asawase community following the murder of Chief Abdul Malik Azenbe, the Ashanti Regional Kusasi Chief, as his 84-year-old landlady, Aba Tawia, reportedly died from shock after learning of his death.

According to family sources, Aba Tawia collapsed upon hearing that Chief Azenbe, who lived in her house, had been shot dead by unidentified assailants on Tuesday. She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Emmanuel Mensah, popularly known as Bob, the son of the deceased landlady, revealed that his mother shared a strong bond with the late chief, describing him as a tenant who treated the landlady like his own mother.

“She was inside the room while the chief was outside when the gunshots rang out. Moments later, she was informed that he had been killed, and upon hearing that, she fell to the ground and never recovered,” Bob recounted.

Chief Abdul Malik Azenbe, who was also the Divisional Chief of Kaadi in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, was ambushed and shot by gunmen on a motorbike, plunging the Kusasi community into mourning.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has since launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of the chief.
