The family of the late Dada KD has announced that the late highlife icon Dada KD’s final funeral rites will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in his hometown of Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region.

The celebrated musician, born Dada Kwabena Dwamena, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, after reportedly struggling to speak before being rushed to a hospital in Gbawe, where he was later pronounced dead. He was 56 years old.

Dada KD’s death sent shockwaves across the nation, with tributes pouring in from fans, fellow musicians, and public figures.

The grief was palpable at the East Legon Executive Fitness Club, where a one-week memorial observance was held over the weekend. The solemn gathering drew scores of sympathisers, including musicians, politicians, and members of the creative arts industry.

Among the notable personalities in attendance were Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration); Akwasi Agyeman, former CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority; veteran highlife musician, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah; and representatives from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Dada KD’s career spanned over three decades, during which he rose to prominence for his unique style and heartfelt love songs that resonated with Ghanaians both at home and abroad. His legacy includes a rich catalogue of timeless highlife hits that continue to enjoy airplay and admiration.

The August 16 funeral is expected to draw a large crowd of mourners, including dignitaries and music lovers, who will gather to pay their final respects to a man many describe as one of Ghana’s most beloved and soulful voices in music history.
