Lawlessness At La

Masco Sports and Bar at La

The springing up of local bars, popularly called ‘spots’, along some major streets in the La Township is becoming a worrying sight.

The drinking ‘spots’ located along the La Police Station and Kakramadu roads have made it a daily happening of mounting loud speakers, parking vehicles and sitting and drinking on the shoulders of the road at night.

This situation does not only disturb the peace of residents at night, but also makes it almost impossible for motorists to use the road at night because of the extension of the ‘spots’ to the road.

Residents who could not take the situation any longer have made several calls to local Ga radio station to lodge complaint to authorities such as the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LADMA) and the La Police Commander, but to no avail.

Aside the loud noise from the public address systems and the merry makers taking over the road impeding traffic flow, they have made smoking of Indian hemp (wee) a normal thing in their jamboree.

We fear that if nothing is done about the current state of affairs, it might have a negative effect on their children aside the health hazards from the smoke and the loud sound, making it difficult for them to sleep.

I am, therefore, calling on all well-meaning indigenes of La, the La Police and Ghanaians to help in maintaining law and order in the area.
