Madam Felicia Aba Dawoode (R) making the presentation to the headmistress

The Headmistress of the Sekondi School for the Deaf (SEKDeaf), Madam Favour Aflakpui, has praised the government for continually supporting the School with infrastructural and other educational materials which has enhanced teaching and learning of the hearing impaired students.

She, however, pointed out that the government alone cannot provide all the needs of the school.

To this end, she appealed to benevolent organizations and individuals to assist the school, particularly with projectors, desktop computers and printers to aid visual literacy and help improve academic standards of the school.

Madam Afakpui made the appeal when the Lower Pra Rural Bank Plc donated assorted food items to the school at Inchaban in the Shama District as part of activities marking its 40th anniversary celebration.

The items donated comprised six bags of rice, three big gallons of cooking oil, two bags of gari, three bags of beans, two bags of maize, some fruits, including oranges and pineapples, 10 boxes of biscuits and 60 packs of drinks.

Presenting the items, Isaac Chief Executive Officer of Lower Pra Rural Bank Plc, Kwamena Afful, explained that the donation was in fulfillment of the bank’s attachment to the welfare and the general well-being of the students.

“The bank started in Shama on August 31, 1983. So we are 40 years and we decided to show our benevolence to SEKDeaf which is also located in the Shama District”, Mr. Afful noted.

He implored on the teachers and other workers of the school to do business with the bank.

Board Chairperson of the Bank, Madam Felicia Aba Dawoode remarked, “We came here to show love to the children who are very dear to our heart. We hope our donation would go a long way to assist the children.”

The bank also made a similar donation to the Sekondi Special School located at Sofokrom near Sekondi.

The headmistress was grateful for the gesture which she said would go a long way to help the children.
