President-elect John Mahama has pledged to investigate the deaths of individuals that occurred during the just-ended elections in Ghana.
This comes after the United States government expressed concern over the reported deaths of four individuals, with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urging a comprehensive investigation into the incidents.
Mahama’s administration has made it clear that they will probe the deaths if the outgoing government fails to take action.
This vow was made during a meeting with a delegation from the European Union, where Mahama emphasized the need for accountability.
“We are happy about the smooth successful election we had. Unfortunately, there were a few incidents that have marred it – a few deaths. It is our intention to investigate what led to the deaths of those people,” he said.
