A 38-year-old electrician, Kwame Krappah, has been hauled before a Kaneshie Magistrate Court for allegedly killing his girlfriend at Kpone Bawaleshie in the Greater Accra Region on July 11, 2023.
Court documents indicate that the suspect strangled the deceased with a nylon rope without any provocation after she had left work to his place to eat food she had bought.
The suspect, according to the documents, later dug a grave on a nearby land and buried the body in it.
He later took the police to the grave after he was arrested based on intelligence, and the body of the deceased was exhumed by a court order.
Kwame Krappah has provisionally been charged with murder, and his plea has been reserved by the court presided over by Her Worship Ama Adomako Kwakye, who remanded him in police custody to reappear on September 5, 2023.
The prosecution’s facts presented by Chief Inspector Margaret Boadi, indicated that, the deceased, Judith Kpeglo, a pupil teacher left home for work on July 11, 2023 but did not return and her mother reported same to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused who was her boyfriend.
The facts said investigations revealed that the deceased had left the school where she teaches to the suspect’s place to eat food she had bought.
It said the deceased requested GH¢200 from the suspect to braid her hair, which he gave, and after eating the food, the deceased told the suspect she was going back to the school.
“Without any provocation, the suspect attacked the deceased from behind with a blue nylon rope and strangled her to death,” the facts state.
It further indicates that the suspect on the same day at about 10pm dug a grave and buried the deceased in it.
“The suspect, in his caution statement, admitted the offence and led police to the spot he buried the deceased. A court order was obtained and the body was exhumed and deposited at the Police Mortuary for preservation ad autopsy.”
The facts added that on August 15, 2023, an autopsy was conducted on the body but the cause of death was yet to be revealed as investigations continue.
