A 31-YEAR-OLD man at New Daaman in Asante Mampong, Ashanti Region, has allegedly been beaten to death by a mob for stealing a goat.
Francis Duah was said to have been mercilessly manhandled by a group of people, who had accused him of stealing the animal.
The mob, said to be led by one Selina Agiba, allegedly gave Mr. Duah a sound beating until he (Duah) eventually became unconscious.
Mr. Duah was rushed to the Mampong Government Hospital, where he died 48 hours later, whilst receiving treatment.
Ms. Agiba is currently in police custody, and the body has been kept in a morgue for autopsy.
A police report seen by the DAILY GUIDE said the alleged beating took place on January 28, 2021.
The report also disclosed that Mr. Duah, on admission at the Mampong Government Hospital, died on January 30, 2021.
It said one Akua Bema, 33, of H/NO ND282 New Daaman, Mampong, a sister of the deceased, was the complainant in the case.
The report said on January 30, 2021, Ms. Bema reported that Ms. Agiba and some men at New Daaman had beaten Mr. Duah for allegedly stealing a goat.
It said Ms. Bema claimed that his brother (Duah) became unconscious after the beating so he was rushed to the hospital for treatment but died two days later.
