Cars parked in the median opposite the GRA office and Purple Pub
REVELLERS PATRONISING the recreational centres along the Ring Road East stretchhave turned the median separating the road directly opposite the GRA offices and the Osu Purple Pub into a car park.
The median’s green grass and ornamental plants have died as a result of constant trampling by humans and parking of cars.
A visit to the place by the DAILY GUIDE on Friday night showed gross display of lawlessness by drivers whose vehicles parked on both shoulders and median on the stretch between Danquah Circle and Labone Junction.
There were ‘boys’ with flashlights directing motorists who were coming to patronise the pubs for a fee.
Some of the motorists who spoke to the DAILY GUIDE bemoaned the practice and called on the authorities to intervene before an incident occurs.
A driver who spoke bitterly against the situation said the first time he used the stretch he got confused thinking that the flashlights were cops asking him to stop.
When DAILY GUIDE contacted the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly(LaDMA) on the disturbing occurrence, the MCE, Solomon KoteyNikoi, indicated that the assembly is working on fencing the stretch to stop the unauthorised parking.
‘We went there to tow the vehicles on the stretch but that did not deter them, so the long term plan is to erect a fence and replant the grass and trees,’ he added.
