Songstress Dela, known in private life as Delali Greenstock, has announced that she will be returning to full time music career, many years after she went off the scene to further her education and also work in the corporate world.
She revealed that she has missed the stage but the main reason she is returning to music is for the fans who have been calling for her return.
According to her, the fans have been mounting pressure on her to come back and she is now left with no choice, especially now that she is done with schooling.
“I released my first song, ‘Odo’, about 10 years ago but I had to pause and go back to school. After school, I had to work and the growth at the corporate level got my attention but I was still doing music. Behind the scenes, I was working with Kojo Antwi but it just the work I started with Okyeame Quophi that paused a little. But now I’m done with whatever I was doing. I’m done with school. I really love the music and so I am like I have to bounce back,” she told Dr Pounds on Hitz FM Monday night.
“The fans always ask of me. When they see me in town they ask why it’s been long since they heard me. The lovely pressure is just too much so I had to do it for my fans,” she said about the fans.
“I was missing music. I was missing stage. Some time I sit and watch shoes and what I could have done? I shed tears sometimes but what can I do?” she added.
Dela wowed the music scene with her first song titled ‘Odo’. Even though she could not churn out hits, the first song stood the test of time. It’s still on the airwaves.
In March 2017, she announced her first comeback with a single titled ‘Let Me Go’ but it couldn’t make it to the top playlist.
Produced by Richie, the song touches on abusive relationships, which the singer asserts is an unhealthy thing.
Dela hinted that she has a number of songs to be released in 2018, which the fan base should watch out for. Meanwhile, she was full of praises for females in the music industry who are doing well in the once male-dominated industry. She mentioned Efya, Becca, Wiyaala, Adina and Ebony as some of these ladies.
Dela currently holds a BSC in Public Relations and Marketing from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and also worked with Auto Plaza Limited as the sales manager from 2008-2015.
