Nana AKomeah Kofi Akomeah

Reports available indicate that Nana AKomeah Kofi Akomeah’s family is still looking for the missing Agona Asamang Fetish Priest who abandoned his gods and locked up the shrine in 2004.

A fetish priest is a religious figure who has been granted permission to carry out sacred religious rites, particularly when acting as a go-between for believers and one or more deities.

Also, they have the right or ability to carry out religious rites, particularly those that include offering sacrifices or other forms of worship to a deity or deities.

According to the reports, Nana AKomeah Kofi Akomeah took over running the shrine in 2004 after his uncle, the late Chief Fetish Priest Okomfo Nana Agyinam Barima passed away.

A few weeks after being appointed as the shrine’s chief priest, Nana Akomeah Kofi Akomeah, a devout Christian who thought that worshiping idols was a sin against God, abandoned the shrine and disappeared. He hasn’t been seen since.

He believes that God created human beings to worship Him alone, not idols that people make with their own hands out of wood, stone, etc, therefore his decision to abandoned the god and shrine.

Reports say some of his family members are still hunting for him because they still want him to be the shrine’s chief priest.

The family said the decision of Nana Akomeah Kofi Akomeah to abandoned the gods and left the country have caused humiliation and betrayal to the family members who heavily rely on the gods for their economic well-being.

Additionally, the family has been denied access to worshipping their gods because, according to tradition, only the fetish priest can unlock the gods.

They are however urging the district assembly, foreign affairs, and the government to locate and return their fetish priest immediately.
