MTN Mobile Money Limited has officially launched its Cashless Market initiative, a collaborative effort involving banks, fintech companies, Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and the Bank of Ghana.
This initiative aims to promote a cashless economy by facilitating digital transactions.
At the launch, Chief Product and Services Officer at MTN Mobile Money Limited, Sylvia Otuo-Acheampong, highlighted the importance of financial inclusion through mobile money services.
“As we celebrate MTN Mobile Money’s 15th Anniversary, this initiative is a key part of our commitment to driving financial inclusion and fostering a cashless society,” she stated.
Madam Otuo-Acheampong emphasised that MTN Mobile Money is dedicated to expanding financial access through various services, including mobile loans, insurance offerings in partnership with MiLife Insurance, investment opportunities via Treasury Bills, daily or monthly savings plans, and cross-border remittances.
“By promoting digital transactions, MTN Mobile Money aims to enhance financial access and convenience for Ghanaians,” she added.
The Cashless Market initiative seeks to foster collaboration among ecosystem players to showcase the benefits of a cashless economy while expanding access to financial services such as loans, insurance, and investments. Additionally, it aims to educate customers about security measures and fraud prevention, promoting the My Momo App for convenient transactions, statement viewing, and subscription services.
Madam Otuo-Acheampong also announced an upcoming ‘Refer-a-Friend’ promotion that will reward users with free data for successful referrals. She stressed the importance of vigilance against fraud, urging customers to be cautious when sharing personal information.
“Education is key. We are collaborating with security agencies to combat fraudsters,” she emphasised.
The MTN Momo Cashless Market is part of the company’s 15th -anniversary celebrations, which will feature a series of promotions, giveaways, and random cash prizes for customers.
