MTN MobileMoney Reassures Customers

MobileMoney, the mobile money service provider of MTN Ghana, has reassured customers that their mobile money platform remains safe and secure despite recent social media claims suggesting otherwise.

The company clarified that the alleged cybersecurity incident has not impacted the operation or security of their mobile money systems, and no customers have lost any money as a result.

“We assure all our valued customers that the cybersecurity incident has not impacted on the operation or security of our mobile money systems. No customers have lost any of their money as a result of the cybersecurity incident, our mobile money platform remains safe and secure, and customers’ funds are protected,” the statement read.

MobileMoney Ltd. emphasised that it operates with robust security protocols, including end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication, and ongoing monitoring to detect and prevent fraudulent activity. The company also stated that it collaborates closely with regulatory authorities, cybersecurity experts, and partner institutions to uphold the highest safety standards.

The company urged customers to remain vigilant and avoid disclosing sensitive information such as passwords, PINs, and OTPs via phone, text, messages, or emails. Customers are encouraged to contact MTN’s toll-free customer care number at 100 for assistance.

MobileMoney LTD emphasised the importance of relying on official channels for authentic and accurate information, advising customers and the public to be cautious of misinformation on social media.
