MTN Welcomes 160 X’mas Babies

Christmas Day twins take a hamper

MTN Ghana Foundation has presented 160 hampers dubbed ‘Yellow Hampers’ to pregnant women who delivered their babies on Christmas Day.

Forty women who gave birth to their babies on Christmas Day in selected hospitals in the various regions such as Greater Accra, Western, Northern and Ashanti received ‘Yellow Hampers’.

The hampers contained a set of baby items, comprising body lotions and creams, towels, soap, among other items.

Acting Corporate Services Executive (CSE) of MTN Ghana, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, indicated that the company was happy to present the hampers to the mothers as part of its corporate social responsibility to commemorate the season of sharing love with other members in the society.

At the Tema General Hospital, MTN Ghana is funding the construction and furnishing of an ultra-modern 40-beds maternity block.

Mrs Asare Fiagbenu explained that the project is expected to be handed over to the management of the hospital in the first quarter of 2018.

Dr Lawrence Ofori Boadu, Ag. Clinical Coordinator at the Tema General Hospital, who assisted with the distribution of the hampers, expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for the donation.

He described the gesture as a surprise package for the new mothers.

Dr Abraham Borfa, Head of Administration at the Tema General Hospital, mentioned that the hospital which has four specialist doctors and 19 medical officers has positioned itself to provide the best medical services to people living within its catchment area and beyond.

He, however, called on corporate institutions to help provide relevant medical resources to the hospital in order to help them effectively deliver on its mandate.

A mother of twins who spoke to DAILY GUIDE expressed her appreciation to MTN Ghana Foundation for the donation.
