The Chief Execuitve office of Apple Media GH, Nana Kojo Biney, popularly known in the music scene as Electric, has announced plans to launch launching a talent show, an initiative to showcase and unearth music talents in Ghana.
Scores of underground artistes haven’t gotten the opportunity to hit the limelight with their music, and with their tag name “Upcoming”, much concentration have not been given to them.
The show dubbed ‘Talent Competition Show’ is aimed at providing upcoming artistes with the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase their talents and take a giant leap into the broader music industry.
Nana Kojo Biney revealed that the dates and venue for the official launch of the event will be announced soon.
The CEO, who has worked a number of celebrated artistes including former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, A.B Crentsil, Bessa Simons and a host of others, said “there are more growing talents when supported would be famous.’’
According to the CEO who is married Naomi Nsiah, a dancer and backing vocalist to many artistes with four children, the biggest problem of the Ghanaian music industry is the refusal of the veterans to support and guide the young talents in their music career.
Nana Kojo Biney tagged as unsung hero thinks it is important to help young talented artistes in the country to develop their gifts, and to become part of the world of great musicians.
He also believes that veteran musicians who are in a position to help have an obligation to do so.
He indicated that the maiden edition of the talent hunt will see organisers selecting the best talented upcoming artiste, adding that the show will be held in Accra and Kumasi, and it’s going to be to be held annually.
He indicated that one of his is to develop music talents in the youth through training programmes and workshops.
He mentioned that the free programme would train and equip young people in various areas of arts, ensuring that at the end of the training, participants would have better exposure and opportunities to become professionals in their chosen fields.
