The Ministry of National Security, has taken its ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign to the Northern Region.

The campaign which was launched in 2022 is aimed at raising awareness among communities and to have citizens report suspicious movements to the security agencies.

The National Security team visited four districts and 15 schools in the Northern region.

They paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II, at his palace in Yendi and the Paramount Chief of Tolon, Major Rtd. Sulemana Abubakari.

The team also engaged Churches, Mosques, market women, the clergy, youth and other stakeholders across the region to educate them about the  ‘See Something , Say Something’ campaign.

Team Member of the ‘See Something , Say Something’, campaign, Kester Osei Mensah, in an interview urged citizens to be involved in the security of the country and to report any suspicious activities to the security agencies.

According to him, the campaign targeted students in the various Senior High Schools because they want to instill the culture of vigilance in them to help tackle suspicious activities within their schools and communities.

“This will aide them in knowing how to report and identify suspicious activities for information to be gathered and action taken by the authorities,” he said.

Mr. Mensah commended Ghanaians for actively responding to the ‘See Something, Say Something’, campaign.

He, however, appealed to Ghanaian’s to desist from the prank calls they make to the help Centre.

“The prank calls in a way does not help us identify the genuine calls so we are pleading with Ghanaian’s not to abuse the system,” he said.

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II and the Paramount Chief of Tolon, Major Rtd. Sulemana Abubakari indicated that the ‘See Something Say Something’ campaign is very necessary for Ghana’s security and assured that their palaces will support the campaign to ensure that the region and country is safe.
