The Land Valuation Division (LVD) of the Lands Commission has begun revaluing all properties in the country.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing the administration of property rate by the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) in accordance with Section 22 of the Lands Commission Act 2008 (Act 767), as well as Section 146, sub-Section 8 of the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936).
The exercise has been phased with the following five assembly areas in the Greater Accra Region: the Ga South municipality (Weija, McCarthy Hill, Aplaku and its environs); Ga East municipal (Abokobi, Agbogba, Ashongman and its environs); Ledzokuku Krowor municipal (Teshie, Nungua and its environs); Adentan municipality (Adentan, Adjirigano, Trassacco and its environs) and Tema metropolis (Tema Township, Sakumono, Adjei Kojo and all Communities).
In furtherance of the exercise, which commenced on July 10, Â 2017, field officers are visiting all properties in the aforementioned areas to collect relevant information.
The LVD officers will have official photo identification cards in addition to mobile digital devices.
They would have property data collection application forms for the collection of the following information: building constructional characteristics; property owners’ names and addresses, including email addresses; property owners’ mobile phone numbers for effective communication (text messages, etc.,) among LVD, the assemblies and property owners) and photographs of the front views of properties.
According to the Lands Valuation Division, the exercise is free and so nobody should pay anything to the officers.
Field officers would not be able to provide any information on the value of properties, because the process has been computerized.
Property owners have been entreated to cooperate with the field officers, and that any obstruction on their part constitutes an offence.
According to the Acting Director of the Land Valuation Division, questions pertaining to the exercise may be directed at the Land Valuation Division office.
