Naysaying The Doom Prophecies

And it came to pass that some so-called men of God descended into the rather slippery occupation of foretelling the future, the prerogative of the Creator.

They did not only remain there but graduated as it were into the murky waters of political prophesying as though they discuss with God his plans for mankind.

Having enjoyed the fruits of their warped guesswork they call prophecies, their attention has now been riveted on other areas where money and fame can be reaped.

We are appalled at the rate of such irresponsible behaviour using the exalted name of God for propulsion.

The subject has gained considerable notoriety; it has triggered consternation among sections of the populace including fear and panic.

Ghanaians are religious, Christianity or Islam, two Abrahamic faiths to which majority of citizens belong. It is heartbreaking therefore when charlatans pretending to be pastors prey on the vulnerability of the citizens to spread fear and panic and tendentiously so.

A few years ago, the transition of a top Islamic cleric was predicted, a prophecy which caused bad blood between the source of the prophecy and a section of the citizenry belonging to the Islamic faith.

As if God wanted to prove a point about the nonsense of such prophecies, the Omnipotent and Omniscient has spared the life of the old man who is still living and performing his normal roles. Won’t the charlatans learn from the lessons from their failed prophecies and stop playing God?

God is beyond the comprehension of human beings who are but his creatures, their sojourn on earth only ephemeral and their knowledge of the future highly restricted.

Prophecies, when they border on inciting the citizens against the leadership of the country, breaches the law and should therefore be abhorred by all means.

The end of 2021 was bereft of the usual prophecies, the fear of an IGP Dampare clampdown hovering over their heads, a warning have already been issued.

The myriad prophecies most of them about politicians remained in the heads of the originators. These had been properly packaged for delivery to vulnerable Ghanaians until the Police orders were issued.

Nobody is gagging players in the evangelism field, not at all. The Police are peopled with Ghanaians who too respect the work of the clergy, the genuine ones of course.

For those who therefore misunderstand the warning to the charlatans and therefore seek to create the impression of a gagging of the clergy are being mischievous.

The intention of a so-called man of God who claims that the opposition would be denied victory in the 2024 elections is clear. He is working for an opposition party and seeks to incite Ghanaians to reject the results of an election in the future.

Such persons should not be encouraged to spread the venom of deceit and incitement because these will compromise security and national cohesion.

There are laws underpinning the conduct of persons within the confines of this country. It is only when these compromise the security of the country that law enforcement wades in to ensure sanity.

The nonsense must stop forthwith.
