The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially kick-started the party’s 2024 election campaign with a launch in Tamale, Northern Region.
The event, held at the Jubilee Park on the theme, “Change To Reset Ghana”, had the NDC National Executives and party bigwigs in attendance as they took turns to address the supporters.
The NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, said he would fix Ghana should he be elected as the president in the upcoming December 7 elections.
According to him, the NDC has men and women who are capable of turning the fortunes of the country round.
“My first priority will be job creation so that we can create jobs for the youth of this country, and that is why I’m proposing the 24-hour economy policy,” he said.
He indicated that the NDC government will create farmer service centres in every district to support farmers with tractor services, seeds among other support to enhance agriculture.
“The 24-hour economy will be linked to an accelerated export development programme and create agro-processing zones, and young people will be encouraged to go into agro-processing and package your products nicely for domestic purposes or export,” he said.
The NDC flagbearer stated that his government would review the 1992 Constitution and amend it to be a living document.
Mr. Mahama disclosed that the next NDC government will also establish the Women Development Bank, which will support over one million women across the country to grow their businesses.
He urged all NDC party supporters to volunteer to campaign massively for the party until they are announced as winners in the December 7 elections.
“Everybody is going to volunteer, we are not going to sleep for 48 hours until all the ballots are counted, and I can promise you that we will protect every single vote,” he said.
No Protection
Mr. Mahama revealed that he would not protect any appointees in his next government found to be involved in any corrupt activities.
“It’s not going to be business as usual for those who wish to serve in my new administration. Know that you are coming to serve in an administration of modesty, honesty, hard work and accountability, and so as we hold the previous government appointees accountable for wrongdoings, if you serve in the next John Mahama government and you are accused of wrongdoing, you will also be punished and held accountable,” he said.
