NDC Lies, Deceits Exposed – Dame

Godfred Yeboah Dame

The Attorney General (AG) and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has stated that the cross-examination of Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the €2.37m ambulance procurement case, has exposed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s lies and deceits.

The NDC, led by its National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, accused the AG of witch-hunting when Jakpa alleged in court that Godfred Yeboah Dame had repeatedly sought his assistance in incriminating Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the ongoing trial.

However, during a town hall meeting with some Ghanaian residents in the United Kingdom, Mr. Dame stated that the NDC’s “lies, deceptions, and deceits” had been exposed.

“We should resist all the lies, deceptions and deceits of the NDC because that is their stock-in-trade and I personally can attest to that.

“We are in Ghana and we have been around the UK, and my brother who lives in London called me anxiously the last time because he entered a barbering shop and they were talking about the Attorney General. But they didn’t know that the Attorney General’s brother was next in line for his hair to be cut,” Mr. Dame said.

He drew his audience’s attention to how the spread of lies had shattered within two days, when his team began cross-examining the third accused, Richard Jakpa.

“Their case has crumbled, and as the President will say, ‘the case has fallen into water.’ So, indeed we must resist the deception and lies of the NDC because they will come with all sorts of presentations about every major action or step being taken by this government; so we should be on the lookout,” he asserted.

The Attorney General used the opportunity to highlight some of the government’s achievements, particularly at the Ministry of Justice, and added that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had outperformed the NDC in all aspects of national life.

“As far as I am concerned, in every facet of national life, the NPP has outperformed the NDC. Even speaking about my own ministry, when I assumed the mantle as the Attorney General in 2021, the Legal Aid Commission which is under my ministry had only four vehicles, the last of which was acquired in 2006, but in 2021, 91 vehicles were acquired for the Ministry of Justice,” he disclosed.

Mr. Dame said the Attorney General’s office faced problems with accommodation, and that at the time he took office, the Law House, which was intended for housing staff of the ministry, was 36% complete.

According to him, today the building has been completed and commissioned by President Nana Akufo-Addo, during whose time as Attorney General the construction began.
