In a shocking revelation, Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has blown the whistle on an alleged plot by the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to send thugs to the Ashanti Region.
According to him, the objective: to create mayhem and validate false claims of election rigging.
Speaking on Asaase Radio, Ahiagbah, said the NDC’s recent press conference was a desperate attempt to express frustration over their inability to execute their plot.
“They found out that the system was up to speed, and they were being impeded everywhere they turned,” he stated.
This isn’t the first time the NDC has made baseless accusations against the NPP.
In recent months, the NDC has vowed to probe the NPP’s Gold-for-Oil policy, citing concerns over transparency and potential mismanagement.
However, the NPP has consistently denied these allegations, with Attorney-General Godfred Dame dismissing them as smear campaigns.
*A History of False Accusations*
The NDC’s pattern of making false accusations against the NPP dates back to the 2020 elections.
Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s national communications officer, has been at the forefront of these claims, alleging that the NPP was training thugs to intimidate NDC supporters.
However, these claims were never substantiated.
*The Latest Plot*
Ahiagbah revealed that the NDC has assembled a team of eight individuals, armed with fake ballot papers, to cause chaos in the Ashanti Region.
He said the plan is to get these individuals arrested, arrange media coverage, and blast the story on social media to reinforce their false narrative.
*Security Agencies on High Alert*
However, he explained that the security agencies are aware of the NDC’s plot and are ready to deal with any attempts to disrupt the electoral process.
Richard Ahiagbah assured that the NPP will not be swayed by these tactics and remains committed to a peaceful and transparent election.
