NEDCo Disconnects Tamale Sports Stadium, BACE, TACE, Over Debt

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), has disconnected some institutions in Tamale the Northern region as part of its revenue mobilisation exercise across its operational areas.

The Managing Director of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), Osman Aludiba Ayuba, led senior officials to embark on the exercise.

Some of the affected institutions are Bagabaga College of Education(BACE), Tamale College of Education(TACE), Tamale Sports Stadium.

According to the Managing Director of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), Mr. Ayuba, they owe VRA about GHS 1.6 billion as well as Gridco over GHS 480 million.

He indicated that within the NEDco operational area customers owe NEDCo over GHS 1.2 billion.

Bagabaga College of Education(BACE), owed GHS 4.1 million, Tamale College of Education(TACE) GHS 3.5 million, and Tamale Sports Stadium GHS 466,000.

NEDCo was compelled to discount this institution unless they pay 70 percent of the amount they owed.

However, Tamale Technical University (Tatu) also owes NEDCo over GHS 2.2 as of December 2022 and has assured the official that they would issue a cheque of GHS 100,000 to offset their arrears and for that matter, they were not discounted.

Meanwhile, the NEDCo boss has warned customers who have been discounted that should they reconnect themselves back to the national grid they will be compelled to take legal action against them.

He urged customers across their operational area to pay their bills immediately to avoid disconnection and payment of reconnection fees.
