The newly constituted Governing Board of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) held its inaugural meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2025, pledging collaboration with the Corporation’s management to advance the objectives of the Corporation.
The meeting, held at the PHDC head office in Accra, provided board members with an opportunity to commence it duties in accordance with the enabling statute of the Corporation.
In his opening remarks, Board Chairman Mr. George Blay-Morkeh affirmed the Board’s complete commitment to supporting management in ensuring that the planned Petroleum Hub Project at Jomoro becomes a reality, given the immense benefits it holds for the local communities and Ghana as a whole.
He highlighted that the board comprises distinguished professionals possessing diverse expertise, and that they would leverage this collective knowledge to advance the corporation’s vision of establishing Africa’s premier petroleum and petrochemical hub.
Mr. Blay-Morkeh further emphasized that the Board places the highest priority on the interests and welfare of management and staff, pledging robust support to realize the ambitious petroleum hub initiative.
In his welcome address, PHDC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Toni Aubynn—a board member himself—expressed profound gratitude to Members of the Board for heeding President John Dramani Mahama’s call to serve the nation.
Dr. Aubynn urged the Board to contribute their extensive expertise, networks, and insights as the Corporation works diligently to develop the Petroleum Hub Project, which promises to transform the Jomoro area and profoundly enhance Ghana’s economy.
He assured the Board of the full cooperation of management and staff, vowing a unified effort to fulfill Ghana’s aspiration of becoming the continent’s leading energy hub.
Following the meeting, board members toured the PHDC offices, engaging with staff and reaffirming their commitment to supporting them in the execution of their responsibilities.
The new PHDC board, inaugurated by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, on November 20, 2025, is chaired by Mr. George Blay-Morkeh and includes Dr. Toni Aubynn, Esq. (Chief Executive Officer, PHDC), Mr. David Ampofo, Mr. Francis Tettey-Sackey, Esq., Mr. Patrick Ofori, Mr. Abednego Akuteck, and Dr. Mizpah Ama Dziedzorm Rockson.
