The NLA delegation presenting the dummy cheque to Joyce Aryee, Chairperson of the Apiate Support Fund
The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has donated an amount of GH¢100,000 to the Apiate Support Fund.
The NLA’s gesture was in response to the government’s call for donations towards the support fund to garner funds for the redevelopment of the community after the destructive explosion.
So far, corporate organisations and individuals have continued to support the fund.
The donation was presented by a delegation from the NLA, led by Dr. George Gyamfi-Osew, Director of Operations, who said the gesture was being made so the rebuilding of the destroyed community can take place.
Besides depositing monies into the Consolidated Fund for national development, the NLA, he added, is mandated to raise revenue to help the less privileged and the vulnerable, like the people of Apiate.
“What has happened in Apiate goes beyond less privileged or destitute in society, it looks like a war, when there has been no war; so we are happy to support such a good cause coming from our Good Cause Foundation,” he said.
Dr. Gyamfi-Osew called on other institutions to come forward and donate sufficiently to complement government’s efforts to rebuild the community.
