NPP Activists Attack Wa MCE

Some youth believed to be supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Wa, Upper West Region, have allegedly raided the residence of the municipal chief executive (MCE), Alhaji Issahaku Tahiru Moomin.

The incident reportedly occurred in the absence of Alhaji Moomin and according to sources, the youth embarked on the unlawful action because they suspected that the MCE was interfering with the ongoing polling station executives’ election of the NPP in the area.

According to the youth, Alhaji Moomin is allegedly skewing the process to favour his preferred candidates in the Wa Central Constituency.

Windows, louvre blades and glass doors were smashed by the youth and other items like furniture, electronic gadgets, cooking utensils and food were scattered in the rooms and the compound of the house during the attack.

DAILY GUIDE also learnt that Alhaji Moomin and the Wa Central Constituency Chairman, Ali Kamara, have had a long lasting ‘feud,’ and that could  be linked to the whole action.

Alhaji Moomin later told DAILY GUIDE that the attacks were engineered by the constituency chairman.

He described the accusation that he was manipulating the electoral process as ‘fallacious,’ ‘malicious’ and ‘lacking substance.’

Meanwhile, the DCE has reported the incident to the police and entreated his supporters to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
