NPP Chairmen Deny Cash, Cars Bribe

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deans of Constituency Chairmen have expressed shock at claims that Vice President Dr. Bawumia gave them GH¢100,000 and pickup vehicles each as an inducement to vote in his favour during the party’s special delegates polls held on August 26, 2023.

According to them, the claims are not only false, but also baseless, and calculated to tarnish their image as Constituency Chairmen.

The NPP Chairmen stated that the false claims came up at a time when they are working tirelessly across the country to ensure that a suitable presidential candidate is elected from among the four qualified candidates to lead the party to break the eight-year power alternation, and to “continue with our unmatched and enviable record in the history of our country as a party in government.”

The NPP Chairmen, in a statement jointly signed by Dominic Bosompin, the Dean of Deans, Albert Atuga, the Secretary, and Francis Acheampong, Treasurer, urged the rank and file of the party to ignore the “baseless allegations.”

They informed party executives from the national to the polling station levels, as well as supporters in all 275 constituencies, that their integrity remained intact, saying that it “can never be sold for any amount of money or vehicles.”

Furthermore, the Constituency Chairmen stated that they would never betray the trust placed in them, given that they had committed their loyalty and allegiance to the NPP.

The statement reiterated that the NPP Chairmen will not conduct themselves in any way that would be contrary to the party’s constitution.

It urged the party’s four presidential candidates to campaign on issues rather than insults, false allegations, and fabrication, claiming that such tactics are detrimental to the NPP’s prospects and efforts to break the country’s eight-year rule of political power alternation.

The statement further advised the rank and file of the party to stay united and focused, while channeling their strengths and energies to elect a presidential candidate who can lead the NPP to win the 2024 general elections.
