NPP Man Shoots Down NDC Soyaya Fund

Ali Suraj

A FORMER Deputy Organizer of the USA branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ali Suraj, has stated that the ‘Soyaya Fund’, to wit Love Fund, captured in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto, for which reason the NDC is boasting to have the interest of the Zongo communities at heart more than the NPP, is a hoax.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE in Kumasi yesterday, he stated that the NDC’s manifesto does not contain any ‘credible’ policy to accelerate the development of the Zongos.

According to him, the NDC is aware that the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF), implemented by President Akufo-Addo, is making positive impact across the Zongo communities in the country.

In this regard, he said the NDC had hurriedly included the Soyaya Fund in its manifesto just to win what he called undeserved votes on December 7.

Ali Suraj said the recent claim by the Asawase NDC Member of Parliament, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, during the Twi version of the NDC manifesto launch that the NDC cares for the Zongos, is false.

According to him, the Asawase lawmaker has realized that the election is drawing closer and so he (Muntaka) is afraid that the NDC could lose the election, for which reason he is saying anything just to woo the electorate.

Ali Suraj stated that the NPP is the party for the Zongo communities, pointing out that the Akufo-Addo government had done more to better the lives of the Zongo people within three years.

“We have established a ministry for the Zongos; over 3,000 Arabic instructors have been enrolled on the ZDF and YEA modules and 40 needy but brilliant Zongo students are currently studying medicine in Cuba. The government is also building Astro Turfs in Zongos, and an authority has been established through the ZDF to cater for emergencies in the Zongos,” he pointed out.

“Our current manifesto captured, among other things, at least one modern Senior High School (SHS) infrastructure in the Zongos across the 16 regions; the NPP must retain power,” he said.

“The NPP is winning both presidential and parliamentary elections at Asawase on December 7 and my brother Muntaka should start preparing his handover notes,” Ali Suraj, who sounded confident, added.
