The South African High Commission intends to partner the northern regions in agriculturaldevelopment.
This was made known, when the South Africa High Commissioner to Ghana, Grace Jeanet Mason, paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, ShaniAlhassanShaibu, at his office in Tamale.
The High Commissionis expected to sign an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), to undertake projects in agricultural development, infrastructure and education among others.
This will ensure smooth trade between the two countries.
The commissioner said this would be the beginning of a great relationship in strengtheningrelations between South Africa and Ghana’s Northern Region.
“I do not want to just have ceremonial visits, but to have tangible projects that can be realized from cooperation in sectors like agriculture and education,” she said.
She assured the Regional Minister of South Africa’s support for strengtheningcities and regions of both countries.
The Northern Regional Minister, thanked the High Commissioner for her visit, and stated that the Northern Region had vast lands, which the chiefs werewilling to release to any investor for development.
He further assured the Commissioner that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) was ready to support any organization willing to partner with RCCfor development.
He was optimistic that the visit by the South African High Commissioner would strengthen the existing fruitful cooperation existing between Ghana and South Africa.
