Michael Darko (2nd R) presenting the cash to ACE IT boss, Quinton Shirlock
NxtGen, a group of young businessmen who are passionate and mostly play at the Achimota Golf Club, crowned its 2019 activities on Sunday with a match play tournament at the Achimota Golf Club.
The match play final determines the NxtGen champion for the year.
The finalists were Seidu Foster and Kwaw Blay, Director, Western Publications Limited. Over 100 people watched from the club house in a tight and exciting game that ended up being decided on hole-18.
Seidu came out tops with a par on hole-18, whereas Kwaw scored a double bogey on the tricky Par 3.
Seidu Foster is, therefore, the NxtGen match play 2019 champion, winning a trophy, champagne and dinner for two at Labadi Beach Hotel.
Kwaw received two trophies for second place and 2019 most improved NxtGen player.
Additional medals for lowest score from the support group went to Charles Asante, who shot a net score of 68.
NxtGen members led by their captain, Michael Darko, also used the occasion to donate GH¢10,000 to ACE IT, an NGO based in Gomoa Fetteh with a focus on helping underprivileged kids transform their lives through education and the game of golf.
The occasion was graced by Dr. Frank Adu, a member of the Board of Trustees of Achimota Golf Club and Christina Furler, Lady Captain of Achimota Golf Club. Dr. Frank Adu, who is also a patron of the group, encouraged NxtGen to keep on executing the vision and keep up the good work of attracting new members to golf and giving back to the community.
