Offinso Samproso Crash Claims 10 Lives

 

 

At least 10 people have been killed with several others critically injured in a gory road crash at Offinso Samproso in the Ashanti Region.

The tragic incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, involving a commercial passenger bus travelling from Techiman to Kumasi and a cement-laden trailer.

The bus, with registration number GT 5509-20, reportedly rammed into a trailer loaded with cement, bearing registration number GN 5326-22, as the truck was crossing the road from a nearby cement factory.

Eyewitnesses said the bus was speeding at the time of the crash and smashed into the middle of the trailer, leading to a heavy impact that left the bus mangled beyond recognition.

Six passengers were said to have died on the spot, while others sustained life-threatening injuries. The death toll later rose to 10 after some of the injured succumbed to their wounds.

The injured victims were rushed to St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso and other nearby health facilities for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the St. Patrick Hospital mortuary.

Police personnel from the area swiftly took control of the accident scene and have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Meanwhile, residents and road safety advocates have renewed calls on drivers to observe speed limits and exercise caution, especially on busy highways, to avert further loss of lives.
