Ofosu Ampofo To Miss Ayawaso C’ssion

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo

DAILY GUIDE has learnt that the Justice Francis Emile Short-chaired Ayawaso West Wuogon Commission Of Inquiry probing the just-ended shootings during the bye-election in the constituency will not, after all, call the embattled National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to testify.

The public hearings of the three member commission is officially coming to an end tomorrow.

Considering the damning contents of the leaked audio recording of the NDC Chairman when he hosted NDC communicators in a post-Ayawaso Wuogon bye-election, many have thought he would make valuable inputs into the Committee’s work.

Unless an extension is given the Committee, Ofosu Ampofo will not take his turn – a situation which many who are following the hearings and juxtaposing same with the explosive audio recording find rather bizarre.

The Committee, the formation of which was met with skepticism by the NDC who even announced a non-cooperation, attracted plaudits from the opposition.

“Although the Committee is made up of learned personalities who are on top of the subject they are dealing with, the non-appearance of Ofosu Ampofo is a major setback,” a security analyst who wants to remain anonymous told DAILY GUIDE yesterday.

Even before the ink dried on Ofosu Ampofo’s remarks for which he has made a first appearance at the CID headquarters and currently on bail, the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu’s ‘admission’ that the Azorka Boys were at the residence of the NDC candidate, Delali Kwasi Brempong, needs further probe by the commission.

His remarks and sometimes counseling of NDC communicators when he took his turn after Ofosu Ampofo is the most revealing expose yet about the presence of the Azorka vigilante group at Ayawaso West Wuogon during the bye-election on January 31st and the role he played in the seeming jigsaw puzzle.

His reference to the presence of the vigilantes and the success of the NDC project has opened a new chapter in the thorny subject of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency bye-election brouhaha.
