Paramount Chief of Ampeyoo Traditional Area of the Oti Region, Nana Odeifuor Frimpong Ware II, has assured the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of his support in the upcoming general election.
This was after he apologised to the government for not voting the NPP in the 2020 general election, especially for not being able to give them even a single parliamentary seat.
The chief disclosed this during Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit to the area as part of his December 7 electioneering campaign.
“Your Excellency, before I continue, may I apologise for our inability to give the NPP a seat in the Oti Region despite the fact that the NPP maneuvered or manipulated or encouraged and ensured that we had the Oti Region,” he said during the stakeholder’s engagement forum at Ahamansu on Sunday evening.
He, therefore, noted that “we therefore wish to assure you that, for this time no turning back; we are moving forward and we will ensure that the seat becomes yours.”
He took the opportunity to commend Dr. Bawumia for the peaceful manner in which he has been conducting his campaign, since according to him, “ever since your movement, we never heard insult or any rancour from your outfit. This is a good sign; you have done well.”
He also lauded Dr. Bawumia for his religious tolerance, which he said will spur the NPP flagbearer higher to the presidency.
Nana Frimpong II also commended government for the good roads they have given the people of Oti Region, the implementation of Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy, introduction of the Ghana Card, provision of ambulances to all 275 constituencies and the ongoing Agenda 111 Hospitals and a host of others.
“It is against this background that we assure you that come 2025, we will all rally behind you and lawyer Mustapha,” he gave his word.
He, however, appealed to Dr. Bawumia to help asphalt some roads in the area which have become almost unmotorable.
Dr. Bawumia accepted the apology in good faith, praying that this time round the chiefs and people of Oti Region will vote massively for him and the NPP.
He also took the opportunity to outline his vision of possibilities to the electorate, whilst encouraging them to vote number one on the ballot paper on December 7 to help realise his dream of ascending to the highest office with bold solutions to Ghana’s challenges.
The campaign activities over the weekend took him to places like Krachi East, Krachi Nchumuru, and Krachi West constituencies in the Oti Region.
The team was also at Nkwanta North, Nkwanta South, and Akan constituencies.
During his visit to the constituency, Dr. Bawumia commissioned a number of projects, including an assembly hall complex for the Kpassa Municipal Assembly on Sunday. On Saturday, Dr. Bawumia also commissioned a 3-unit classroom block at the Tokuroano Anglican JHS to be used as a model girls’ school.
