Otumfuo-Branded Books Steal Show At Indece Day

BEAUTIFULLY BRANDED exercise books of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, became the toast of participants of Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations, which was held in Kumasi last Friday.

The books were made by the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, popularly known in political circles as ‘Zuba’, to make the historic programme very memorable and grand.

Also, the exercise books were made to educate school children in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, about the rich culture of the Asante Kingdom, which dates to many centuries, as well as project Otumfuo to them.

Significantly, the exercise books have a white background with Adinkra symbols on the front cover. It also has a portrait of the 16th Asante Monarch, who is dressed in a beautiful traditional cloth with his right hand raised.

Also found on the front cover of the books are the Ghana flag, which is positioned at the top left corner, a logo of the KMA, and the official logo and theme for this year’s Independence Day, as well as the famous Black Star Square.

The back cover of the book also features a picture of the Kumasi Mayor in black suit, the Ghana flag, the KMA flag and a multiplication table. The National Anthem and Ephraim Amu’s ‘Yen Ara Asaase Ni’ are also written there.

Mayor’s Presentation

Zuba presented quantities of the exercise books to some selected students and schools that have excelled in academics and sports in the Kumasi Metropolis in recent times, as his own way of appreciating and motivating them.

Among those who received the books was Blessed Owusu, a form one student of St. Hubert’s Seminary Senior High School, who was the Overall Best Athlete in the recently held Ashanti Regional Super Zonal’s Athletics Competition.

Other recipients of the books included the Opoku Ware Senior High School and T.I. Amass Senior High School, among other beneficiaries.

“The presentation of the books is the Mayor’s own way of celebrating our young heroes who have chalked significant feats in the academic and sporting spheres in the Kumasi Metropolis,” a KMA official, who demanded anonymity, told the paper.
