Otumfuo Woos ‘Burgers’ To Africa

Otumfuo delivering his address

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appealed to Africans in the diaspora to actively participate in the developmental processes of the continent.

He stated that Africans living in Africa could not develop the continent alone, hence the need for those in the diaspora to also contribute their quota.

According to him, the continent would be properly transformed and developed to an appreciable level if Africans in the diaspora played their part effectively.

The Asantehene, who is currently on a visit to the United States (US), delivered the statement during a function at the Africa Union Representational Mission in the US.

The Asante King was accompanied on the trip by some traditional leaders from Asanteman including Nana Owusu Afriyie, the Apagyahene, and other prominent chiefs.

Also in the king’s entourage were Nana Otuo Serebuo, the Juabenhene, who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of State, and some officials from the Manhyia Palace.

Otumfuo identified poverty, ignorance and diseases as some of the major challenges facing the African continent. He, therefore, urged those in the diaspora to also play their roles to address them.

According to him, if Africans remained united, especially those in the diaspora with their brothers and sisters back home, definitely the continent would make giant strides in the area of development.

In this regard, Otumfuo, whose fame goes beyond the African continent, has reiterated the need for Africans all over the world to come together and collectively champion the growth of the continent.
