Otumfuo Woos Investors

Otumfuo in a handshake with President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca of Malta

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appealed to foreigners to invest in Ghana to earn returns.

According to him, the country boasts of friendly, resourceful and hard-working people, stressing that any investor that would choose Ghana would not regret.

“One of the unique selling points is that Ghana is the most peaceful, stable democratic state in West Africa. Besides it is centrally located, making it a natural gateway to the over 350 million strong West African market.

“The country’s rich faun and fauna and over 500 kilometers stretch of coastline make it unique,” the Asantehene said.

He made this known at the 5th Forum of the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation which was held in Malta under the theme, ‘Mediterranean Blue; Beautiful Life Unites Everyone.”

Addressing dignitaries in Malta, Otumfuo, who was the special guest of the event, said Ghana has several tourism sites, which could be properly harnessed by any potential investor to earn returns.

“Ghana also boasts of old castles and fortes, some of which have been declared by UNESCO as world heritage sites,” Otumfuo remarked.

“The country has attractive cultural festivals all year round and very warm and friendly people. Clearly, all these attributes give Ghana an urge in the tourism sector in West Africa,” the king said.

The Asantehene commented: “What we need is investment to develop and package these different resources and the arts and culture into attractive products for the global tourism industry.

“To do this successful, there will be the need for hotels, restaurants and schools for training of personnel, as well as roads, hospitals and clinics.”

He stressed the need for Ghana and Malta to partner, especially in the area of tourism, to derive several benefits.

Otumfuo, who was accompanied by a large retinue of chiefs and subjects, was in that country at the invitation of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, who visited Ghana some months ago.
