Over 569,000 Candidates Write BECE 2024

A total of 569,095 candidates are writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) at 2,123 designated centers nationwide as a wave of anticipation sweeps across the nation.

The examinations kick off today Monday, July 15, 2024, marking a pivotal juncture for students venturing into the realm of academic scrutiny.

In a statement released on Sunday, July 7, the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) extended commendations to the diligent candidates for their unwavering commitment and resilience in the face of academic challenges.

Furthermore, the statement expressed profound gratitude toward teachers, Heads of Basic Schools, Directors of Education, Parents/Guardians, and all stakeholders for their indispensable contributions in preparing the candidates for this consequential milestone.

Emphasizing the imperative need for integrity and ethical conduct throughout the examination process, the GES issued a stern warning against any form of malpractice. Stressing collaborative efforts among GES, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), and security services, the statement assured stringent measures to safeguard the sanctity and fairness of the examinations at all designated centers.

“Parents, candidates, and the general public are hereby advised that post-examination procedures will entail the school selection process,” the statement elucidated.

Assurances were provided that detailed guidelines concerning the selection process would be disseminated in due course, ensuring transparency and equity in the subsequent educational transitions following the conclusion of the BECE.
