Pan-African Parliament Suspends Vote After Heated Debates

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has suspended a vote on its Presidency.

The suspension came on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, following a heated debate.

During the debate in Midrand, South Africa, tempers flared.

PAP is the lawmaking body of the African Union.

At the heart of the heated debates was the desire of the Southern African caucus’ demand for a rotational Presidency.

But the Western and Eastern Caucuses preferred the current first-past-the-post voting system.
