Kofi Prempeh
A senior pastor of the 12 Apostles Church at Denkyira Wawase in the Central Region has been arrested by the police for allegedly butchering his 90- year-old wife.
Maame Amma Tawiah was allegedly killed by 80-year-old Kofi Prempeh at their home around 3am on Sunday.
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Oppong, who briefed the media yesterday, said the police received a report on the murder around 3:30am Sunday dawn and apprehended the suspect.
She said when police arrived at the crime scene they saw the deceased, Maame Amma Tawiah with multiple cutlass wounds lying in a pool of blood.
“The body was photographed, removed and deposited at Twifu Praso Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.”
She said the suspect attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat and was rushed to the hospital where he was treated and discharged but is currently on remand.
“Suspect Kofi Prempeh appeared before Mr. Fovi Nukunu, a Twifo Praso District Magistrate Court judge who remanded him into police custody for two weeks to reappear on November 25, 2020,” she added.
