Pharmacist Intern In Court Over Firearm

REAGAN KAAIEMABONG, a 38-year-old civilian intern pharmacist at the Police Hospital, has been put before the Accra Circuit Court ‘2’ for illegally possessing firearms.

He is also before the court for impersonation and issuing threats of death to others.

The court, presided over by Rosemary Torsu Baah, was informed by prosecuting officer, Inspector Jonas Lawer yesterday that Reagan was arrested on February 18, 2022, after having gone to the 2M Express bus terminal at Nkrumah Circle to urinate at an unauthorised area.

Inspector Lawer told the court that a security personnel at the bus terminal confronted Reagan over his violation and this turned into a fight; in the process, he pulled a gun at the security man and threatened to kill him.

According to the prosecuting officer, the accused also pointed the gun on a driver at the scene.

“As a result, a police patrol team was called to the scene where the accused was arrested,” Inspector Lawer stated.

The prosecutor also said in the course of interrogation, the accused person told the police that he is a doctor at the Police Hospital but further investigations proved that he is an intern pharmacist with the hospital and not a doctor as he claimed.

The court has, however, granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties after having pleaded not guilty to the counts levelled against him.

The case has been adjourned to May 17, 2022 for continuation.
