The three suspects in police custody
THE POLICE are on the heels of a Fetish Priest called Black Akasha, aka ‘Sha’, in connection with the gruesome beheading of Israel Agyei Manu, a Bolt driver, at Feyiase, near Kumasi.
The key suspect, Rashid Ibrahim, 32, is reported to have visited the shrine of the fetish priest for his support to become rich overnight, and the so-called priest demanded a human head to perform the rituals.
This came to light when Rashid and two other suspects, arrested in connection of the case, namely Richard Addai, 35, fetish priest assistant and Anthony Sekum, 22, a labourer, appeared in court last week.
The trio, who have been charged with abetment and murder, have been remanded by the Kuntenase Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Francis Asakiah, to reappear on July 22, 2021.
The prosecution led by DSP Eric Akwaboa, told the court that in November 2020, Rashid visited the shrine of Sha for spiritual assistance to become rich, having earlier watched the fetish priest on a certain television station.
The fetish priest, reportedly, charged Rashid GH¢900 and he afterwards performed some incantations, before ordering Rashid to produce a human head, which would be used for rituals to help him to become rich.
The prosecution said on July 4, 2021, Rashid hired Manu’s car to Feyiase. Upon reaching Feyiase, Rashid told the driver to accompany him on foot to pick some speakers, but he butchered him on the way.
According to the prosecution team, efforts were being made to nab the fetish priest and one other suspect to assist police in their investigations. The three suspects were remanded and the case was adjourned to July 22, 2021.
