Police Denies IGP Leave Status

 

The Ghana Police Service has vehemently refuted recent media reports suggesting that the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has been instructed to proceed on leave.

In a statement released and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, categorically dismissed these claims as false and urged the public to disregard such misinformation.

Addressing the misrepresentation surrounding Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s leadership status, the Ghana Police Service emphasized the Inspector-General’s unwavering dedication to his role in overseeing the operations of the police service.

The statement reiterated Dr. Dampare’s commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities as entrusted by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Through this official communication, the Ghana Police Service seeks to set the record straight and maintain transparency regarding the operational standing of the Inspector-General of Police amid unfounded rumors circulating in the public domain.

There were publications about rumours circulating within the Ghana Police Service sparking jubilation among some officers over the possible removal of Inspector-General George Akuffo Dampare.

Dampare leadership of the police administration is said to have dampened the moral of officers killing the esprit de corps among personnel.

A source said the IGP was being removed over allegations of insorbodination.
