Police Deny MP’s Shooting Story

The Police in the Brong Ahafo Region have denied allegations on social media that the Nkoranza-South Member of Parliament (MP), Charles Konadu Yiadom fired a gunshot at the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nkoranza, Diana Attaa Kissiwaa last Saturday over the arrest of the MP’s errand boy.

Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwame Tachi- Poku, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE on the phone, said though an alleged errand boy of the MP Jafaru was arrested by his men for cursing the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Diana Attaa Kissiwaa, the MP did not fire any gunshot at her residence.

He said some Zongo boys, who were not happy with the arrest of their colleague Jafaru, wanted to take the law into their hands.

“The MP and his boys could not have gotten access to the MCE’s residence because the police are guarding there,” he emphasized.

He explained further that Jafaru, who is alleged to be the MP’s errand boy, was arrested by the police.

The police chief said he was remanded into police custody last week to reappear today for insulting the MCE.

“The MP is a relation to one of the powerful priests in town and it is the priest, whose boys are also from Zongo. They tried to take the law into their hands but anybody who violates police regulations would be dealt with severely.

DAILY GUIDE’s sources from Nkoranza said on Monday 20th November, 2017, Jafaru went to curse the MCE with an egg in her office for undisclosed reasons.

Efforts to reach Ms Diana Kissiwaa on her phone failed because her cell phone had been switched off.
