Police Grab Wee Car

A TAXI Cab transporting seven sacks of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana from Boti Falls in the Yilo Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region has been impounded by the police.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Eastern Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh who made this known to the DAILY GUIDE said, the police had a tip off that an Opel Astra Caravan taxi cab with registration number GW 5356-13 had been loaded with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana heading towards Huhunya from Boti Falls all in the Yilo Krobo municipality

According to him, the Asesewa District Police immediately dispatched a team to trail the taxi cab.

The police team caught up with the taxi cab before Huhunya Junction on the main Asesewa-Koforidua road.

The driver of the taxi cab who sensed danger after seeing the police car approaching accelerated faster to avoid the police car.

“The Police team gave the suspect a hot chase and upon reaching the Porponya and Guata section of the road, the driver abandoned the taxi and ran into the bush,” he said.

ASP Tetteh indicated that the taxi was then driven to the Asesewa Police Station by the police team and when a search was conducted on the vehicle, the substance was found in the sacks.

The police PRO said the police have mounted a search for the suspect  to bring him to face the full rigours of the law.
