Kwame Asare Obeng aka A-Plus
Musician and social media commentator, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has been invited by the Ghana Police Service to assist in ongoing investigations into the death of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an undercover investigative journalist.
The invitation follows his recent claims on social media that he had some information regarding the case.
“Instead of you to focus in the Bawumia-Napo campaign to win the election, you are here focusing on me Kwame A-Plus. Hey, me I know who killed Ahmed Suale, I swear to God. If you dare me I will expose it and every week you will hold the press conference. Focus on your campaign (sic),” A-Plus stated in an outburst on social media.
According to a press statement issued by the police, the Cold Case Unit established in October 2021, under the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to handle cases of that nature had been working on investigation into the case and closely engaging with the deceased’s family.
As a result, the police stated that his invitation was crucial for the progress of the case, emphasising the importance of any information that could help resolve the investigation.
“The Ghana Police Service has today, July 15, 2024, invited Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, to assist the Police’s ongoing investigation into the death of Ahmed Suale, following his recent claims on social media that he has some information regarding the case,” the statement read.
“The Police is, therefore, pleased that Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus) has made an indication that he has some information that could assist the ongoing investigation, and he has been invited accordingly,” the statement added.
A-Plus, on his Facebook page, informed the public of his visit to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service following an invitation from the service.
He wrote, “I’ll be at the CID headquarters at 2pm to give an information on Ahmed Suale. The truth! Nothing but the truth.”
Ahmed Hussein-Saule, an undercover journalist, was shot dead on January 16, 2019, by unidentified assailants reportedly on motorbikes while he was driving home from work in Madina, a suburb of Accra.
He was a member of Tiger Eye Private Investigation (PI) team, and was involved in a corruption investigation led by ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The team uncovered corruption in Ghana’s football in a documentary captioned ‘Number 12’, and helped expose human traffickers, corrupt officials, and judiciary staff across Africa.
