The suspect being escorted during his arrival in the country
An armed robbery suspect, identified as Adinda Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, has been apprehended in Lomé, Togo, and subsequently transferred to Ghana.
Moudjibou is alleged to have been involved in a series of criminal activities targeting high-profile individuals in elite residential areas of the capital city between 2022 and 2024.
His arrest was announced by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), during a press briefing in Accra.
DCOP Donkor detailed that Moudjibou’s arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between INTERPOL Accra and INTERPOL Lomé. He is believed to have operated alongside an accomplice, Alidu Marzouk, with their criminal activities concentrated in affluent neighbourhoods such as East Legon, Cantonment, Ridge, Tesano, and the Airport Residential area.
The suspect’s illicit activities were reportedly captured on various CCTV cameras and circulated widely on social media. While Moudjibou managed to evade capture for a significant period, it was confirmed that he had fled to Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, or Nigeria.
His accomplice, Alidu Marzouk, was arrested by the police in September 2024 and has since been remanded by the court to assist with ongoing investigations. Further investigations revealed that Moudjibou held both Ghanaian and Togolese identification documents.
Following this discovery, a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Adabraka District Court on September 5, 2024, leading to his inclusion on INTERPOL’s Red Notice list. “Intelligence gathered confirmed that Moudjibou was hiding in Togo,” DCOP Donkor stated.
“In light of this, INTERPOL Accra sought assistance from INTERPOL Lomé to locate and apprehend him,” DCOP Donkor stated.
On January 30, 2025, after extensive collaboration and intelligence work, Togolese authorities successfully arrested Moudjibou in Lomé. He was held in custody pending judicial processes for his transfer to Ghana. Following negotiations between Ghanaian and Togolese officials, the transfer was approved last Monday.
On May 14, 2025, DCOP Donkor and her team travelled from the Air Force Base in Accra to Lomé, where they received Moudjibou from the Togolese police team led by Commissaire Principal de Police ASSI Elo Ani. The handover took place in the presence of officials from the Ghana Embassy in Lomé.
DCOP Donkor emphasised that the transfer was facilitated under the Agreement on Cooperation in Criminal Matters between Police Services of West African States, which streamlines the process for transferring suspects wanted for criminal offenses back to their home countries.
She further thanked the Togo National Police Force, INTERPOL Lomé, and officials of the Ghana Embassy in Togo for their support and collaboration.
DCOP Donkor assured the public that investigations were ongoing, and efforts were in place to apprehend the remaining suspect who is at large. “We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all persons in the country,” she added.
