Augustine Antwi
A 36-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly posed as a police officer and succeeded in defrauding several people who wanted to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service has been arrested.
The culprit, Augustine Antwi alias Agyengo who resides at Sefwi Bekwai, a suburb of Bibiani in the Western Region had succeeded in collecting a total of GH?17, 600 from his victims under the pretext of recruiting them into the Service this year.
Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that the monies were collected between November and December last year and January 2018 in Sefwi Bekwai.
Based on these false presentation, he allegedly succeeded in collecting GH?4, 400, GH?2, 500, GH?3, 300 and GH?7,400 respectively from four of his victims to have their children enlisted into the Service.
Suspect Antwi after collecting the various sums of money was said to have gone into hiding until one of the victims spotted him at Sankore and caused his arrest on March 5, 2018.
Suspect is currently in police custody in Sefwi Bekwai and assisting with investigations.
It is believed that more victims might have fallen prey to the alleged fraudster so the police are appealing to any of such victims to come forward to assist in the investigations.
