COP Alphonse Adu- Amanquah addressing the officers
The Ghana Police Service has served notice that all miscreants parading as officers will be weeded out to guarantee a safe Ghana through quality policing.
According to the Director General of Private Security Operations, COP Alphonse Adu- Amanquah, the Police administration is guided by professionalism therefore it is taking pragmatic steps to weed out miscreants and criminals masquerading in Police uniforms.
The move which is a response to the concerns about the conduct of some Police officers is to restore the trust and cooperation of the public in keeping the country safe and maintaining law and order.
Furthermore, it will repair and improve the reputation of the Ghana Police Service, which is considered one of the best services on the African continent.
COP Adu- Amanquah announced this in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital during the passing out ceremony of 361 recruits from the Volta Regional Police Training School.
The recruits were made up of 49 Under Cadets and 312 Recruits.
He cautioned the officers and the recruits that the “Police administration will not countenance any act of bribery, extortion and police involvement in violent crimes,” adding that the days of unprofessional, unethical, and unworthy police officers were numbered.
He stressed that persons found culpable of any misconduct that goes against the law and guidelines of the service will be dealt with appropriately by the law.

COP Adu-Amanquah who was the reviewing officer of the recruits warned them never to desire instant gratification and greed as the policing system will reject them.
He also urged them not to be swayed by the wrong practices of seniors, because when found culpable of any misconduct they will answer for themselves. Instead, he said they should remain focused and put all the good training to good use for their good and that of their fellow countrymen and women.
The recruits passed out after undergoing six months of basic police training in crowd control, crime scene management, riding, driving, traffic management, community-based patrols, human rights, weapon handling, and high-risk operations among others.
The six-month training was designed to equip trainees with the requisite skills to be able to respond to emergency cases and all kinds of eventualities.
COP Adu Amanquah said there is increased demand on the personnel of the Ghana Police Service to deliver services that are more diverse, complex skilled, and specialized to deal with emerging crime, terrorism, and cyber-related crimes.
The Police Administration, led by the Inspector General of Police (COP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has refined the modules and training activities with expanded and improved facilities.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, and the Volta Regional Police Commander, COP Edward Oduro Kwarteng were optimistic that the recruits and under cadets will be professional and ethical at all times.
G/Sgt Ocran Daniel Agyeman was adjudged the overall best Under Cadet Officer while G/R Adjanor Francis emerged as the overall best Recruit.
