Pregnant Woman Stabs Lover To Death

A 30-year-old pregnant woman resident at Ogome, near Somanya in the Eastern Region who reportedly stabbed her boyfriend to death, is currently receiving treatment at the Atua Government hospital under police guard.

The purported culprit, Diana Tetteh, a mother of two, who was said to be three months pregnant, allegedly stabbed the man – only identified as Kofi, 35 years of age – in the chest with a pair of scissors during a fight, leading to his death.

Eyewitness said Kofi allegedly assaulted the pregnant woman who allegedly retaliated violently.

Somanya Police Commander, ASP Isaac Otsin, who confirmed the incident, said on radio that the police received a distress call at 2:30 am on Monday, March 26, that someone had been murdered at Ogome.

He said when the police proceeded to the scene, Kofi was lying in a pool of blood; and according to ASP Otsin, preliminary investigations showed that a misunderstanding ensued between the couple, leading to the unfortunate incident.

Eyewitness accounts said that Kofi gave his girlfriend some money to prepare supper on Sunday and went to town. When he later returned, the food had not been prepared and Diana was nowhere to be found.

Diana returned home later and Kofi suspected her to be having an affair with another man and that allegedly infuriated him. He reportedly beat the pregnant woman mercilessly.

Diana, who could no longer suffer the ordeal, allegedly went into her room and locked the door but Kofi reportedly broke the door open and continued assaulting her.

Diana allegedly gathered courage and grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the chest.

The deceased was subsequently rushed to the St. Martin’s de Porres Hospital at Agomanya but was pronounced dead on arrival.
